Highly safe and effective
Non-surgical alternative to liposuction
Aqualyx ® , also known as “Motolese Solution”, is indicated for the non-surgical treatment of localized adiposities.
Aqualyx ® is a complex micro-gelatinous injectable solution which consists of a release system controlled by absorbable saccharide polymers containing micro amounts of cleaning agents with short half-life.
Aqualyx ® should be used by experienced and specifically trained physicians.
Aqualyx ® properly used is highly safe and can amplify
and modulate the effects on adipose tissues of external ultrasound programmed at appropriate frequencies in relation to the thickness of the tissue to be treated.
- 18,500 Aqualyx® vials sold in the first month of
marketing in Italy in 2009. - In the first 4 months of marketing, approximately
20,000 procedures of Intralipotherapy® and
cavitational adipocytolysis have been calculated
only in Italy. - Currently, no evidence has been reported of the so-
called “non-responders”. - The first international multicentre clinical trial
studying over 480 patients is under development. - About 1,200 physicians qualified in Intralipotherapy
and in the use of Aqualyx® in Italy.

How does it work?
Injected in to the treatment area
The solution is injected into the treatment area whereby the 12alfa-dihydroxy-5beta-24-oico cholanic acid sodium salt of AQUALYX alters the surface tension of the fat cell membrane and increases the permeability of the membrane. An ultrasound device is then applied over the surface of the skin in the targeted area and this causes the movement of liquids both inside and outside the fat cells. The fat cells start to balloon and break up, leading to the drainage of micro droplets of fatty liquid into the body, which is then metabolised through the lymphatic system and excreted.
Frequently asked questions
Your questions answered
No. Phosphatidylcholine serves no useful purpose in the treatment of localized adiposity. It has been proven by many scientific studies and ratified in the latest international scientific publications worthy of consideration. Phosphatidylcholine accumulates for long periods in the adipose tissue and authoritative opinions argue that it may have a liposynthetic use but certainly non-lipolytic and strongly contributes to repair cell membranes of damaged adipocytes.
No. The Intralipotherapy® needles of the Lipoinject® series have been specifically designed for homogeneous infiltration and smooth flow.
It is true and in some cases even after very few sessions. The reasons for this strong response are related to the particular formulation of the injectable solution.
Absolutely not. Lipolysis is a metabolic process mediated by a specific hormone-dependent receptor stimulation. This term has been sometimes used improperly, in non-medical fields and in circumstances where normal physiological processes are completely unknown.
Intralipotherapy® with Aqualyx® and cavitational adipocytolysis implicate adipocytolysis and not lipolysis, that is a destruction of the adipose tissue.
The association of Aqualyx® with medium frequency ultrasound has been named with the term cavitational adipocytolysis. From a legal point of view, ultrasounds can be associated with instruments regularly registered as “medical devices” for medical use only. From a technical point of view, it is advisable to use ultrasounds at frequencies not less than 200 kHz and with wattage (not rated but real) less than 3.1 W / cm2. The use of instruments emitting frequencies below 90 kHz has not been studied yet and because of their depth of action they may not be particularly safe.
Absolutely not. The infiltration with Intralipotherapy® protocol is painless and does not require any prior anaesthesia, neither topical.
