Highly effective & natural looking
Anti-wrinkle treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections are made from a drug made called Botulinum Toxin type A which has been MRHA approved and used for both medical and cosmetic purposes for over 20 years. It is one of the most researched drugs in medicine, with thousands of papers published from across the world.
Botulinum Toxin Type-A is a prescription-only medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe wrinkles.
This simple treatment produces highly effective results and can be a quick fix method of improving the look of wrinkles. When given properly, it looks very natural. The aim of this (and all aesthetic treatments) is to create a fresher looking version of you. In other words, you shouldn’t look changed, fake or unnatural in any way. No one should notice what you’ve had done, they should however notice that you look refreshed and healthy.
How much does it cost?
The price for female botox ranges from £180 to £250.
Frequently asked questions
Your questions answered
Botulinum Toxin is a purified nerve-blocking agent, that is used to treat overactive muscles. The drug works by blocking nerve transmission to the muscles in which it is injected, putting them to rest for up to six months.
The result for the client is smooth looking skin often with the eradication of frown lines, crows feet and forehead lines. As the product wears off, the effect weakens and the muscles will wake up and begin to move again.
Treatment will be as pain free as possible. Numbing cream is available on request however the needle used is the same size as an acupuncture needle. Local anaesthesia is not generally required.
You will be surprised how quickly the entire treatment is completed. It takes a matter of minutes to perform, so really can be a lunchtime procedure.
Results are visible usually within a week of the anti-wrinkle treatment. The muscles slowly stop contracting, the full effect will be evident at 14 days. No top up treatment can be undertaken before 14 days has passed since the initial treatment.
How long each client sees the effect of the anti-wrinkle treatment is personal to them, however typically clients should expect to have 3-5 months and perhaps up to 6 months of effect from the injections.
There is no change in sensation and no numbness. Clients will also retain the ability to make facial expressions, although there will be a reduced ability to raise eyebrows and in the furrow between the eyes. It is possible that the client may wish for a slight eyebrow lift, this can be achieved with botulinum toxin.
No there should be no downtime after anti-wrinkle treatments. There may be some slight red bumps visible for a couple of hours post treatment. These are coverable with makeup.
Post treatment advice will be given but clients should avoid any strenuous activity on the day of treatment as well as sauna and sunbed use. It is also advisable for clients to keep their head in an elevated position for 4 hours after treatment of the face.
Most clients report no side effects at all. Research shows 5% of clients may get a mild headache after the treatment. Extremely rarely clients report a temporary eyelid weakness or brow drooping (ptosis) resulting from the injection, this will reverse over time and is a very rare side effect. Occasionally clients may notice there will be a minor asymmetry evident after the treatment, top up treatments may help to reverse this effect but otherwise it will resolve in time.
Yes. Botulinum Toxin has been given medically for almost 30 years, for a range of medical conditions in much larger doses than we use in aesthetic medicine. The doses given are, not enough to cause illness or unwanted permanent effect. It is one of the most researched drugs in medicine and has one of the best safety records.
However, there is a risk with all treatments so the most important thing to ensure before undertaking any treatment is to ensure that the clinic you attend is licensed, insured and the practitioner is fully trained and registered by a recognised regulatory body. All documents for insurance and registration purposes should be available for you to view upon request.
Before any treatment, each client has a full medical consultation which is free of charge. This will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your concerns and what you would like to achieve. You will be provided with up to date, evidence-based information, for you to make an informed choice regarding the options available and what results you can expect to achieve.
You will then be given the opportunity to agree to a no obligation personalised treatment plan.
